The entire state of Colorado has seen a large increase in companies interested in moving to the area. Last year, Colorado startups raised approximately $2.5 billion in venture capital deals which is up $1.6 billion from the previous year. The numbers serve as a testament to the innovation ecosystem thriving in the state.
San Francisco, CA, shaping the next generation of technology
San Francisco has long held the reputation as the leader of innovation in the United States. With major players in tech calling the Bay Area home, it is no surprise a combination of private capital, innovative talent, and state-of-the-art research and development facilities choose to invest time, money, and property into this location.

Austin’s unique atmosphere and an unquenchable thirst for culture and creativity make it the place to be for new startups. The number of tech jobs here is expected to grow by 16% over the next five years beating out San Francisco in projected growth.
Denver, CO, the start up, scale up and grow up ecosystem
At the end of last year, Denver made Inc. Magazine’s Top 50 U.S. Cities for Starting a Business in 2020. Denver is developing a thriving tech environment through dynamic strategy, careful planning, and an open mindset. Deborah Cameron, the chief business development officer for Denver’s Office of Economic Development, calls it the “start up, scale up, grow up ecosystem.”
CompTIA ranked Denver ninth on its Best 20 Cities for Tech list citing that the city of Denver posted 60,000 tech jobs over the past 12 months with a projected growth rate of 3% in 2020. The top IT employers in the city consist of Dish Network, Comcast and Charter Communications, but the mile-high city is not only home to large corporations. Denver is a hot spot of venture capital funding for start-ups looking to make an impact.
Pittsburgh, PA, a rising star among top tech cities in the US
The Steel City’s startup scene is on the rise. Tech startups have been popping up all over the city. Companies such as Argo AI, Duolingo and Petuum have established themselves as leaders in the area while Apple, Google, and Uber have also opened offices in this old steel town. According to an InnovationWorks report, more than $687 million was invested in Pittsburgh technology companies in 2017 creating a robust pipeline of opportunities in many years to come.
Boulder, CO, the new Silicon Valley
Just 30 minutes northwest of Denver, Boulder is emerging as the place that is changing everything. In recent years, Boulder has been growing in all ways. Boulder is the original home of Ball Aerospace (one of the first NASA contractors) and continues to nourish a thriving tech scene comprising companies in aerospace, bioscience, and a plethora of new startups.

Jobs in technology are expected to jump by about 8% by 2024 in Boulder.
